Tuesday Thingers

So the question this week is- how many books do you have cataloged in your LibraryThing account? How do you decide what to include- everything you have, everything you've read- and are there things you leave off?

I currently have 462 books catalogued at LibraryThing and I've been pretty thorough - my cookbooks, my reference books, even my erotica is all up there. I keep anything with a review in my library, even if I have gotten rid of it, although I have a "given away" tag.

This year, I stole an idea from author Joe Hill over at LT and I have started to tag my books as "Read in 2008". It's an easy way to keep track of what I've read so far this year and for this reason I've also added some library books to my account (tagged as KFL for Kent Free Library). Most of these are audiobooks, because I'm sad to say that my book budget does not extend to the high cost of books on CD. It inflates my library a little, but it better represents what I've actually read/am reading.

Wow, I forgot all about cookbooks! Now I'm gonna have to go search the kitchen shelves, too!

Yes I catalogue my cookbooks too, I think the only book that's not packed away somewhere that I haven't listed is the Highway Code for my driving lessons, and that's only because I'm not sure where it is at the moment.

I love audio books, they remind me of when I was a little girl and having stories read to me at bedtime. I just don't have any at the moment, the ones I had were among the boxes that went missing when I was moving house.

my husband was ecstatic when he realized he could add audio books to LT- they make up a substantial part of his collection too. i catalog my cookbooks as well, and i have a tag for library books and things i've given away. i stopped selling my books after i found bookmooch!

Oh gosh, I don't enter my cookbooks but might just have to do that soon! I also tag my 2008 books to track my reading progress.

I not a fan of audio books. If my eye is not engaged I drift off for some reason. Imagine me and my roommate driving back to college trying to listen to Hamlet. Not a very safe thing to try in our case.

My LT account includes reference and cookbooks also--I wanted to include all the books we actually own and those count! :-)

I post reviews of what I read on my blog and then copy and paste them to LT. If I give away a book, unless it is an ER book, I delete the book, review and all.
