I don't usually get material for this blog from People magazine, but I thought this was really sweet: Robin Thicke keeps the romance alive by reading to his wife.
I can't say that I'm thrilled with some of his selections, but I think the idea of reading to a lover is very romantic. I dated one man who was also an avid reader and while we often snuggled up together with a couple of good books, I don't really recall that we read to each other. Too bad - I would have enjoyed that.
How about you? Do you read to your significant other? Do you read together?

I've suggested to my husband that we read a book together by taking turns reading to each other and he looked at me like I'm crazy. I think it sounds wonderful.
I always read funny passages from my current book to my husband. He gets this trapped look in his eyes and pretends to be interested while sneaking furtive glances at ESPN.
Heh. I was doing this last night. Nothing romantic though. I was reading him a passage in one of my current reads (Atheist Universe).
Of course I also read him funny comments from blogs and forums if he happens to be around when I'm at the computer.
My partner and I have done this several times -- it's lots of fun! At the moment, he's reading Three Bags Full, a sheep detective story by Leonie Swann to me.
The boyfriend and I are doing the long-distance thing and reading to each other (although it's usually me reading to him) is one of the ways we stay close. It all started when I wouldn't stop giggling over Meg Cabot's Boy Meets Girl, and finally he told me to put him out of his misery and read him the whole thing instead of unconnected snippets!
