Teaser Tuesday!

Good morning and happy Tuesday! It's time for another Tuesday Teaser! You know the rules: grab your current read, choose some sentences at random, and tempt me into picking up your book when I'm done with mine.

My sentences this week are from Tattoo Machine: Tall Tales, True Stories and My Life In Ink by Jeff Johnson. It's all about his life in the tattoo industry, as you might have guessed, and these sentences convinced me that working in a tattoo parlor is nothing like working in my office:

"The skinhead roared and swept the screen aside to find himself staring down the twin barrels of a sawed-off shotgun. The artist holding it had a very no-nonsense expression."

There is, of course, a great story behind this...if you want to read it, check out the comments!

What is teasing YOU this week?

The story behind the shotgun:

The author's tattoo parlor had an April Fool's Day tradition: they gave free tattoos. The catch was that you basically stuck your arm or leg through a hole in a screen and you don't get to see your tattoo until it was too late. For the skinhead who shoved his way to the front of the line, it was *way* too late:

"The skinhead withdrew his arm and beheld it in awe. There, in stunning, perfect glory, was a(n)...African woman in a loincloth. She had an enormous Afro and was winking, her lips stretched in a come-hither smile...The tattoo was flawless - a stunning portrait of an African fertility goddess."

As you might imagine, he was not happy. (And for the record, I have edited some NSFW language from the description.) This is going to be a fun read.

OMG. At least you could never say the workplace was dull.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I agree with some of the cat/dog mysteries being not so flash but so far this one is good as it is not pretending to be anything other then a story told from the dogs point of view.

Have a great week.

Wow,sounds great and i don't read a lot of non-fiction. Here's a link to my teaser if you want to take a peek.

Jacqueline, I've been lucky and LibraryThing's Early Program has been sending me a lot of great memoirs. I was always a fiction fan, but I have found lots of interesting non-fiction, too.

What a great teaser, and it sounds like a good book. My LibraryThing supply seems to have dwindled to nothing lately, alas. But you're getting some great ones.

My own teaser is at Bookishgal.
