I have no words today! I've gone over the two books I'm reading and not a single new vocabulary word has jumped out at me. That's not entirely surprising, because I know I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, but there is usually something that's new.
Instead, I'm going to introduce you to one of my favorite new websites: Save the Words.org. All of the words pictured on the site used to be commonly used words; now, they are in danger of becoming obsolete. How can you help? You can Adopt a Word! Adopt one or more of these great words and promise to use it in conversation. I have adopted:
Solennial: Occurring once a year; annual.
Isn't that a nice word? And I can prove it's mine!
There are lots of great words there! And they are all shouting for your attention (literally) - it's really hard to choose. Which one will YOU adopt?

How cool is that? I'd much prefer adopting a word to adopting a star! At least you can use the word. I'm going to have to check the site out, I'm going to see if I can find a word I can use on a more than solennial basis. ;o)
Great site, Lisa, and so many words to choose from!
Hurray! What a great idea.
My word is "tortiloquy," meaning "crooked or dishonest speech." I'm sure I can use it a lot, since I follow some politics.
Lisa, what a great idea. I am now the proud owner of lubency. It's a noun meaning willingness or pleasure. I now have lubency to learn more new words. Thank you very much.
That is Soooo cool, Lisa. I love it, thanks for sharing. Will be checking it out soon. I did do a post for wondrous words
My post is here
I love it! I will definitely be checking that site out. Thanks for playing along.
I'm back and I did go to the site you linked but it said I needed Adobe flash player and the last time I went to a site that tried to install that I had to shut down the whole computer and am not willing to take that chance again. Bummer!
Way to go! Thanks for sharing. Here's my words:

Wow, that is a really cool site! I'm going to pick the perfect word (for me).
Oh Lisa that is wonderful. But how to choose?!
What an awesome site! It took me forever to decide, but I finally chose to adopt rogalian - of or pertaining to a great fire.
Ack! I can't access the site either :( I think we have Adobe Flash on the desktop, so I'll check it out the next time I boot up that old dinosaur. Thanks for letting us know about savethewords ... very fun!
